Twitter Showing More Content.

Micro-blogging website Twitter will expand "tweets" to show more content.

Anyone who uses Twitter knows, they have a maxmium of 140 characters to work with when they are writing a "tweet." This leads to words being shortened, links being shortened, and more concise posts. What if 140 characters fails to get your point across? Some will argue that you shouldn't use Twitter because that's the whole point - short, concise updates.

I agree, to a point. Context is key to understanding something. Context is key to understanding why we are airing a news story on television. How is this revelant? Expanded postings "will show video, photos and longer excerpts of news stories from a broader list of media partners" (Source: Bloomberg.com).

This is a postive step for online journalism. Fragmentation and aliennation of news stories makes stories seem out of place and a random bit of information without context. By having multiple sources for additional context, will prevent reporter and organizational bias because there will be a large sampling of information from different reporters and news organizations.
